Many people find Wagner’s music loud, bombastic and overpowering;  but the exquisitely beautiful music in Lohengrin makes this his best opera. It has everything - great choruses, beautiful arias, stirring drama in addition to a damsel in distress and a knight in shinning armor.  Opera Southwest’s spring production is a first in New Mexico.  Attend this class and find out who the mysterious stranger really is.

INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Julius Kaplan, PhD, is an art historian by training - with a specialty in modern art (1850 to present.)  Most of his career was at California State University, San Bernardino where he was Chair of the Art Department and then Dean of Graduate Studies and Research.   He and his wife are life-long opera fanatics, and retired to New Mexico to be near the Santa Fe Opera.

TUITION:  $18 CAC Members, $20 Non Members.
